West"> <font size=5> <B>Message from the Senior Province Vice Polemarch</B></font><P> <font size=3> <I>Raising the Bar Through Training for Leadership</I><P>      As we enter another fiscal year, I would like to challenge each chapter to adopt a spirit of excellence and recommit to our fundamental purpose - ACHIEVEMENT. Looking ahead to our C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference is the ideal time to prepare for new heights in our Grand Fraternity.<P>      As the new leadership looks to re-energize the fraternity and increase efficiency and effectiveness, so does the Middle Western Province. We too are looking throughout the Province to recognize brothers willing to dedicate themselves to the high ideals of the future. The Middle Western Province demonstrated its strength during our recent conclave in Charlotte, North Carolina. We showed our solidarity as we resoundingly voted to begin a new direction in Kappa Alpha Psi. As a result, I would like to thank the delegates who committed themselves to the clear, concise vision of our Province. Now, it's time to continue that trend.<P>      I ask the Polemarch of each chapter to begin this fiscal year with a bold, unprecedented statement. To show your chapter's commitment to "training for leadership", register at least five members at the upcoming C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference. I especially ask that our undergraduate chapters step up and show their strength within our ranks. The C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference and Province Council are ideal times for brothers to bond and fraternize during road trips in addition to receiving the valuable information that is disseminated.<P>      Our noble clan is representative of some of the most innovative leaders in the world. Thus, it is time to demonstrate the significance of your chapter and its leadership. I emplore you -- RAISE THE BAR. Let's begin a new interactive dialogue to network and strengthen our chapter's leadership, membership and most important, THE BOND. Let's prepare to make this year the best ever. If you're committed to Kappa Excellence, let's meet in Oklahoma City on November 1st to begin raising the bar. I am calling all leaders. On September 27, 2003, the Omicron Pi Chapter hosted the largest video game tournament in Colorado history. Named the Kolorado Kutthroat Konsole Tournament, the tournament gathered the most skilled video game players from across the state to compete in a multitude of fighting and sports games. With the help of the sponsoring company, Game Force, over 100 people of all ages attended the tournament making this event a big success for the Omicron Pi Chapter. The tournament offered a big cash reward to the top three winners of each game. All these games were featured on the PlayStatation2, Game Cube and Dreamcast. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference - November 1st</B></font><P> <font size=3>      The Fall C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference (CRWLC) will be held on <B>November 1, 2003</B>, hosted by the Metropolitan Oklahoma City Chapter, the Epsilon Gamma of Kappa Alpha Psi which is anchored at the University of Central Oklahoma but now includes nearly a dozen campuses under its umbrella. The host hotel will be <B>The Plaza Hotel and Conference Center</B> (formerly "Lincoln Plaza" and other names) located at <B>4345 North Lincoln Blvd</B>.<P>      The CRWLC will convene on the morning of November 1st at the Langston University Urban Center located next to the host hotel.<P>      Chapter officers who are <B>REQUIRED</B> to attend the CRWLC in the Fall of 2003 or the Spring of 2004 are:<P> <UL> <LI>Polemarch <LI>Vice Polemarch <LI>Keeper of Records <LI>Keeper of Exchequer <LI>Membership Intake Chairman <LI>Chapter Advisor </UL>      Further information on hotel reservations is now posted on our province website in the <a TARGET="_blank" href="http://www.kapsimwp.com/Kalendars/Kalendar03.html">2003 Kalendar of Events</a>. Pitts, III - Province Historian</I><P> My Brothers in the Bond,<P>      Allow me to share with you some thoughts on on one of the most prestigious benefits our fraternity offers its members. Like many of you, it is becoming increasingly clear that erosions of benefits is something of major concern to many Americans both in public and private life. As we approach our golden years, one of the most significant ceremonies that we as fraternity members are entitled to is a Memorial Service. Not only are you as a brother entitled to this ceremony, it is fitting that we as Kappa men - true men of achievement - recognize you in front of your loved ones as you journey on to our "Golden Shores." My brothers, this is a simple and yet a most beautiful ceremony and, believe me, if we are asked and the ceremony is not conducted, we are sending the wrong message to our brother, potential future brothers, their families, and the public at large. We as Kappa men should accommodate any departed brother's family if they request this ceremony. Remember brothers, we are all entitled to this benefit. And we should do whatever we can to make sure a ceremony happens for any and all departed brothers.<P> From the fraternity's Guide to Protocol and Etiquette:<P> <I>"Families of deceased brothers should receive a visit from the chapter Polemarch to express sympathy and to offer his and the chapter's condolences and assistance. If brothers desire to attend funerals as a group, it should be confirmed by the family or those responsible for the funeral arrangements. Pallbearers and any other assistance may be provided as requested.<P> The family of a deceased brother who was not financial or was unknown to the chapter membership may request a Fraternal service. The membership status should be verified and the request granted. The site is designed to preserve and display documents, photos and other articles of historical significance about chapters in our province, as well as our province-at-large. For this project to be successful and grow even more, we ask each of you to examine your archives in search of items that would be appropriate for inclusion in the museum. Many chapters are not yet represented here. Our highest priority at the moment has to do with the kinds of items that <U><B>MUST</B></U> be digitized for permanent keep before they might be destroyed by deterioration or otherwise lost forever.<P> Obviously a work in progress, we will eventually provide "captions" for items currently archived in our museum that are not self-explanatory.
