Subject: Michael A. Rankins Correspondence

Brothers:

On November 30th, I received a correspondence from Brother Michael A. Rankins, dated November 11, 2001, in which he makes accusations against me that are inaccurate, misleading, and contain factual misrepresentations. Though Brother Rankins has relocated his employment to Chicago, he maintains membership in the Oklahoma City Alumni Chapter and continues to instigate dissent within the chapter. With this recent correspondence, it appears that he is attempting to extend his denunciations throughout the fraternity. I am dismayed that Brother Rankins has chosen this present course of distraction, but I am fully prepared to affirmatively defend myself against his allegations.

While I am eager to offer irrefutable evidence that will absolve me of any alleged wrongdoing, the fraternity and its leadership may prefer that I reserve my responses for the litigation phase that Brother Rankins promises to pursue when he discovers that his current effort cannot achieve its stated purpose and intent. And, based on the facts of this matter, as well as Brother Rankins' own actions, statements, accusations and suppositions, any such litigation against the fraternity cannot succeed in the light of truth.

For now, suffice it to say, on Phi Nu Pi, I categorically and unequivocally deny that I initiated any conspiracy against Brother Rankins. I have been the "messenger" who scrupulously complied with the fraternity's National Constitution & Statutes. And, I have attempted to follow the directives of the fraternity's leadership for the greater good of Kappa Alpha Psi. Brothers, Brother Rankins is attempting to shoot the messenger.
