Subject: Proposed Amendments

In accordance with the Bylaws of the Middle Western Province, enclosed are two items which will be matters of business on the agenda at our 80th Middle Western Province Council Meeting. Please review these proposals and be prepared to vote on each of them at the Council Meeting. Proposed Amendment to the Constitution & Statutes
of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Statute 22. Membership Intake - Section 5.

NOW READS:
No Undergraduate Chapter shall be authorized to hold an initiation without the advance written approval of the Province Polemarch of jurisdiction. The Province Polemarch shall require Undergraduate chapters to file with him transcripts of total credits and grades earned by each candidate for initiation at the close of the immediately preceding school quarter or semester or a letter from a proper school official certifying that each candidate for initiation is otherwise eligible for initiation in accordance with college or university regulations. The cumulative grade point average of a candidate must be at least the equivalent of a 2.3/4.0 or in accordance with the requirements of the school, whichever is higher. The Undergraduate chapter concerned shall make its request to initiate in accordance with established procedures.

PROPOSED AMENDMENT:

RATIONALE:
A 2.5 grade point average is more indicative of our fraternity's fundamental principle of achievement.

Proposed NEW section to be added to "Article III - Organization and Government":

Any and all functions of a local chapter within the Middle Western Province that have been approved by the local chapter in a duly authorized meeting in accordance with the Local Chapter Bylaws and Roberts Rules of Order shall constitute official and sanctioned local chapter functions.

RATIONALE:
Inspired by the current rulings in fraternal law, this will assist chapters by defining a fraternity function.
