| Message from the Province Polemarch
My Brothers:
First let me say thanks to the members of the Lawton Ft. Sill Alumni Chapter for hosting our 79th Province Council meeting. You brothers deserve a round of applause for your efforts to make us feel at home That you did in Kappa style. For those in attendance, you also should give yourself a hand, the hotel staff was very pleased with how we handled ourselves it was your presence that was the icing on the cake.
Moving on to the business at hand, we approved several key items at our Province Council Meeting "Brother Mayor Wellington E. Webb, candidate for the Laurel Wreath," sounds good. "Brother Mayor Wellington E. Webb wins approval from the Laurel Wreath Commission," sounds better. "Brother Mayor Wellington E. Web receives Grand Board approval for Laurel Wreath," it's getting hot, but we are not there yet my brothers. Resolution #5 which was approved at our Province Council Meeting simply read in the last paragraph - "Now Therefore Be It Resolved: that the Middle Western Province fully endorses the Honorable Brother Wellington E. Webb as a candidate for and supports his petition for the Laurel Wreath Award at the 2001 Grand Chapter meeting, to be bestowed at the 2003 Grand Chapter meeting." My brothers, we still have work to do in Cleveland, lets finish the job.
As you may know, Brother Phillip J. Santoli of the Alpha Mu Chapter is our candidate for Undergraduate Member on the Grand Board of Directors. No young man in this Province is more deserving of this seat than Brother Santoli. He has done an outstanding job as a member of our Province Board of Directors and is poised to continue his outstanding service to Kappa Alpha Psi in the capacity as a member of our Grand Board of Directors. My brothers we still have work to do in Cleveland, lets finish the job.
We approved three proposed amendments to the National Constitution & Statutes to be submitted by the Middle Western Province for consideration in Cleveland. In Statue 21 & 22, we proposed an amendment to raise the grade point average for admission into our Bond from 2.3 to 2.5, and to similarly raise the grade point average for officers of undergraduate chapters. In Statue 29, we proposed an amendment to fix an error with respect to disciplinary actions. If the fundamental purpose of Kappa Alpha Psi is Achievement, I would argue that a grade point average of 2.5 Does Not Reflect Achievement, but we have to start somewhere My brothers we still have work to do in Cleveland, lets finish the job.
We are currently scheduled to host our caucuses on Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday at 5 p.m. in the convention center in room #203, it is very important that our delegates be present.
We have made arrangements for a hospitality suite on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday, at a cost of $275.00 per nite at the Renaissance Hotel. I will be contacting the Alumni Chapter Polemarchs to assist with this endeavor.
We have work at home, too. The financial items approved at the 79th Council Meeting were as follows: (A) Undergraduate Province Dues were increased from $12.50 per year to $15 per year; (B) Alumni Province Dues were increased from $25 per year to $30 per year; (C) Undergraduate Province Initiation Fees were increased from $25 to $50; (D) Alumni Province Initiation Fees were increased from $50 to $100; and our Budget Year was extended to correspond to that of the fraternity at large, October 1st through September 30th. Implementation of these changes is ongoing. Come September 2001, most of your chapters will be preparing to participate in the Intake process scheduled during our C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference . . . the increases will be in effect, be prepared.
The Alpha Psi Chapter, Pittsburg State University Pittsburg, Kansas, will host our C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference on September 28 & 29, 2001. It is very important that when you return from Cleveland that you start the re-certification process, the required documentation for your chapter to complete is posted on our web site.
Yours in the Bond,

Adolphus M. Pruitt, II

79 Middle Western Province Council Meeting
AGreat Success
In "Keeping Our Appointment With Destiny" (the theme of the Council), members of the Middle Western Province met April 5-8, 2001in Lawton, Oklahoma for the 79th Middle Western Province Council Meeting. Among our esteemed visitors were Brother Howard L. Tutman, Jr., our 29th International Grand Polemarch, Grand Board Member Brother Eric S. Morris, and Brother Robert G. Jacobs, Executive Assistant to the Grand Polemarch.
Over 200 members were in attendance for the meeting, which was chaired by Brother Adolphus M. Pruitt, II, Province Polemarch Middle Western Province. "This meeting serves as an azimuth check to ensure the Middle Western Province keeps its appointment with destiny to become the forefront province in Kappa," stated Brother Pruitt.
"I am excited about where we are going with our technology," said Brother Charles W. "Ceedy" Morgan, III, Middle Western Province Keeper of Records and Exchequer. Brother Morgan has designed a province database that allows for easy record tracking of our chapters and the retrieval of information about members of the Middle Western Province which may be accessed in seconds. The Middle Western Province website, also designed and maintained by Brother Morgan, has been cited as the example for other provinces to follow.
During the Middle Western Province Council Meeting, 51 new members were initiated into our noble clan. "It is a dream come true, finally. I am so glad to be a part of this noble clan," said Brother Greg Richardson, a new member of the Omicron Zeta Chapter.
Topics such as the State of the Fraternity, Status of Undergraduate Chapters, Kappa Foundation Initiatives, Prostate Global Awareness, and the upcoming Grand Chapter Meeting were discussed during the business sessions. Brother Ossie Cambell, our Senior Province Vice Polemarch, stated, "I can't wait to get to the Conclave in Ohio, this is going to be the best event ever."
Brother Pruitt closed out the 79th Province Council Meeting by charging the members present, "We have an appointment with destiny, we have to continue to Achieve in order to keep that appointment, and the Middle Western Province of Kappa Alpha Psi will not be late for that appointment."
